| "I would
like to acknowledge the help I received from: Sue..........who found the death of Hubert Duffy Jan...........who found his burial details Sharon......who searched the cemetery, found the grave, and took photos There were a few others too, who helped, I have nicknamed them "The Scousercrew", obviously Sue, Jan & Sharon are part of "The Scousecrew" and without them, I doubt, I would ever have found out all these details about my Great Grandfather and his family. I am greatly indebted to all of them, and the best thing about it is; it may seem odd, but I can now click onto this site and visit my Great Grandfather's grave. Thank you! Also just a bit of extra info. on Hubert, apparently he made the first Rocking Horse for Blacklers Department Store, but sadly as you may know it got blew up in the May Blitz of 1941. There was a second one made in 1953, which is now in Liverpool Museum. I am waiting for the curator of the conservation section to return from her holidays, to see what information she may be able to find for me. And hopefully confirm, that it was Hubert Duffy & Robert Duffy who made the rocking horses for 'Blacklers'. Anyway, back to Hubert Duffy as previously mentioned; Anfield Cemetery date of burial was January 23rd 1930, Hubert Duffy was aged 74, address was Greenhill Road, Liverpool, plot was a Private Grave in the Church of England section 14, Grave number 1978. Thank you for providing this space on your website." Maureen |
